EU launched EU MissionSoil, aninitiative to support research and action on SoilHealth. Itwill bring together academia, policymakers, farmers, consumers & businessesto deliver real change.

“The importance of soil health and food: Landand soils are essential for all life-sustaining processes on our planet. Theyare the basis for the food we grow as well as for many other products such asfeed, textiles, or wood. Soils also provide a range of ecosystem services whichare important for clean water, supporting biodiversity or for cycling nutrientsand regulating climate.

Aims of missions in this area: Amission in the area of soil health and food will provide a powerful tool toraise awareness on the importance of soils, engage with citizens, createknowledge and develop solutions for restoring soil health and soil functions.”

At the end of June 2020 ,the mission board produced an interimreport proposing concrete targets and a timeline for a possible mission.
